Rawthentix is a street culture and lifestyle driven online blog, providing readers with the latest buzz worthy news related to trends and current events for astute tastemakers and globe trekkers around the world.
Initially founded in 2005 as a Creative PR Agency, Rawthentix was strategized and masterminded by its two founding partners who were fed up with the corporate overindulgence mentality within the music, fashion retail, and media industry. For them the current lack of progression and creativity within the already saturated market has spewed countless numbers of overzealous haters claiming to be down, but systematically know nothing.
With the combined work experience and credibility of over 30 years in the art, music, fashion, & dance community, it was only a logical progression for Rawthentix to spawn. Their knowledge and dedication toward cultivating a voice for street culture is their business, but is also engrained within their personal lifestyle as well.
Our marketing campaigns include collaborative projects with Burton, Red Bull, Upper Playground, Red Bull, Nike SB, and Oakley. Media and entertainment collaboration include Milan Entertainment, MTV/VH1 Networks, 'The Art Dump' (Chocolate installation), Red Bull, Pacha NYC, Bboy Ivan (Urban Action Figure), HEF (Fx Crew), KRS One, Fab 5 Freddy, N.E.R.D, Universal/Interscope Group, Much Music (Chum City), artists Barbara Tucker, Rufio (White Lights), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Smoochy), and of course our loyal F.A.M. and Special Sauce collective.
Rawthentix is not only a movement, but a Non-Traditional entertainment and street fashion agency, focusing on marketing initiatives, through an array of promotions that include: Live Event Productions, Brand Development, and Social Networking. We host an eclectic team of forward thinking individuals who live, breathe, & forecast trends In short, we will provide clients with groundbreaking concepts that will maximize brand image and public awareness.

C. NEEEON Presents:
"SUNDAY TASTE" COLLECTION S/S09

Designers: Clara Kraetsch|Doreen Schulz
Its always a treat when we here at Rawthentix have the chance to introduce designers that are a little off the beaten path. You may not be familiar with the
c. neeon brand (we were happily introduced to it 3 years back on a vacation and shopping stint in Berlin), but keep your eyes peeled for this up and coming Berlin based line.
The designers Clara Kraetsch and Doreen Schulz met while attending the Kunsthochschule Berlin College in 2001, where in 2004 they would produce their first collection entitled 'Daydream Collection". Designing for both womens and menswear, the art based label is known for its use of bold color, geometric prints and unusual cuts. Since its introduction, c. neoon has managed to build quite the cult following among the European and Asian markets, by producing notable collaborative projects with UK based Topshop, Nylon, and selling collage artwork with the Lumus art collectors.
The C. Neeon S/S 2009 collection deliciously entitled "Sunday Taste" is striking, seemingly with much more emphasis on ladies garments. Though bold in color choice, the pieces are no fuss, easily light and wearable, with a hint of playfulness. Perfect for that sunlit breezy day. To view the current collection and store list visit c. neeon. In the meantime peep a few of the images below.
Stay tuned as we will drop the c. neeon A/W 2009 collection in a hot minute- or two.

KARL LAGERFELD PRESENTS:
COCO CHANEL x PARIS-MOSCOW
The man behind and in front the house of Chanel never ceases to amaze us...
The blogosphere has been buzzing with the teaser video from Chanel. We decided to hold off until we were able to bring you the full length feature.
Last week Wednesday Karl Lagerfeld had his directorial debut. Used to set the tone for the opening of the Chanel "Paris-Moscow" 2009 pre fall collection, a ten minute silent film featured the life of the legendary Coco Chanel during the period of 1913, and then again in 1923. Held at the Theatre le Ranelagh, the presentation which was initially supposed to occur in Moscow, was then cancelled due Russian customs wanting to have three weeks preferential treatment of the collection.
The black and white short was shot in two days in a Paris studio, and featured a variety of Lagerfeld's personal entourage, which included Lithuanian model Edita Vilkeviciute, playing the role of Coco Chanel in her youth. Other supporting roles were played by muse, Amanda Harlech and daughter Tallulah Ormsby-Gore as customer and model, Brad Kroenig as Coco's lover, the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, and his bodyguard Sebastien Jondeau as a Russian general.
The viral video was inspired by Academy Award-winning Mack Sennett, otherwise known as the innovator of slapstick comedy, and features a spliced montage of authentic newsreel footage WWI. We say, in a time where the economic pinch is being felt by many, creativity is a necessity, and this marketing campaign gets two raised champagne glasses from us. View the world of luxury that is defined by Chanel.

ABDUCTED AND RETURNED BACK FROM
THE WORLD OF CHANEL

Let me start off by saying that yesterdays weather was not fit for man nor beast. A convenient down poor on the day that Zebak and I were set to visit the Chanel Mobile installation in Central Park was not what we had intended. Walking down 5th. Avenue in the wind and rain, hair frizzing, while all the while me cursing that the exhibition better be the greatest thing ever (or at least close to it), since finding a pair of killer Dolce & Gabanna black heel boots from '06 season for $200 bucks!
We entered on 69th street, where we were finally greeted by the spaceship like structure. Thankfully we obtained tickets in advance when they were first made available in September, via the Chanel Mobile Art site. Approaching the entrance we noticed the long line of people waiting on "stand-by" for admittance to our left. We probably waited on the "express" line for about 5 minutes, where we were politely greeted by security and guest patrol, and then escorted to the door. Within another few minutes we were finally in! Handed our belongings into coat check (by this time we were also hot as hell making sure we weren't late), and received a pair of tour headphones. The entire tour was a little under an hour, and was narrated by veteran French actress Jeanne Moreau. Guests were immediately engulfed into the sultry world of Chanel, interpreted by the masterful architecture of Zaha Hadid. I was immediately put at ease, forgetting about the dismal day. The narration of Moreau provided each individual specific directions to follow and visit each installation. The dimly lit space was so relaxing, it allowed participants the chance to "dream in color".
Our favorite exhibits was the over sized Chanel leather bear and swing set container entitled ("Comfortable" by Fabrice Hyber 2007-07). It was ever so slightly cracked open, with its handles held together by a signature Chanel leather chain-like strap. Can I just tell you I had my hand on the strap for so long. I was so tempted to just swipe it! Next was the ("Light Years" by Lee Bul 2007-08) exhibit which symbolically represented the "brain center" of creation for Chanel. Wrapping up the tour you couldn’t deny the power of the oversized bag entitled ("Crystal Custom Commando" by Sylvia Fleury 2007-08). It was outrageous to say the least. The staple Chanel bag was lined in pink fur, and held an oversized Chanel compact showing video images of machine gun wielding women in charge.
Lastly, patrons were prompted to take three informational postcards and walk to the "Wish Tree" installation by Yoko Ono. With headphones still on, guests were directed to take a card and pencil, write down your wish, and attach it to the tree. This was the official end of the tour. In all, the exhibit was well worth it and was regulated with the great professionalism. We only wish there were additional installations that were oversized and more tangible for the NYC tour. There were a few interpretive exhibits we could have done without as well. We handed in our coat ticket, picked up our belongings, and were treated with a Chanel New York Mobile Art Issue #3 magazine keepsake.
Later that day we also met up with emerging jewelry designer Lillian Crowe, also featured by the lovely ladies over at Miss Crew. Aside from being talented, she is probably one of the most down to earth and accomodating people we have ever met. We are proud to announce that her designs will be featured and sold in the upcomming months at our new exclusive Special Sauce location. Stay with us and be in the know, as there will be more info. after the hop.
We kept one of the magazines in plastic for prosperity, the other we have opened it to share some images with you. Peep the luxury and decadence that is Chanel.

KARL LAGERFELD x CHANEL GUN SHOES

The influence of Karl Lagerfeld in the fashion world is undeniable. For as long as I can remember, I've always marveled at his genious designs, gracing the pages of couture magazines and the runways. One can only imagine being able to sit front row one at one of his shows. I think any man or women could only dream- wishful thinking perhaps. Let alone the man himself is always impeccably dressed. One must admit those high collared shirts and tailored suits he wears are icon and unmatched. He is the quintessence of grace, with age bearing no limit to style.
I digressed from my original trail of thought. I was apparently daydreaming visions of Chanel and Fendi grandeur and over indulgence. My apologies...
His latest Chanel's Spring 2009 Cruise collection includes the much talked about "Gun Shoe" designed by Lawrence Decade, which have already started hitting Chanel boutiques worldwide. These pistol inspired stiletto’s are available in black, white, and metallic silver, and will retail for $2200 US. It's definitely safe to say that these aren't for the timid gal. What are your thoughts?

VERSACE x TIM ROELOFFS FOR A/W '08

A bag has to be remarkably stellar in order for most people to drop serious cash. For me there has to be a bold fusion of both masculine and feminine appeal with a touch of rugged style to peak my interest. The last bag I seriously set myself back on, was purchasing the large Camouflage Michael Kors Skorpios Shopper, which is still to this day one of my top picks. Not only can it hold your essentials and then some, but provides a sense of comfort like a security blanket wherever I go. Plus the bag compliments my Nike SB Brian Andersons quite nicely.
Just recently I was sifting the pages of my October issue of Travel & Leisure magazine, when behold my eyes graced upon one of the latest bags from Versace. While I am generally not a fan of this designer, their latest collaborative efforts with Berlin resident, and Dutch artist Tim Roeloffs has made me take notice. The Bohemian designer was handpicked by Versace scouts to infuse his three-dimensional montage style with the Autumn/Winter '08 line. The result is a collection of dresses and handbags adorned with Berlin's history and social landscape infused with past Versace ad campaigns from the 1980s. The use of luscious plum leather along with the print and gold shoulder strap makes me melt. What are your thoughts? To learn the complete story go to The Age- Ich bin ein Beer-liner for a good read.

YSL x FASHION WEEK= RARE

For those of you who made out with the YSL tote giveaway during yesterday's mayhem, kudos to you. If you left empty handed, I understand your discontent. It wasn't an end to all if I didn’t receive a tote, but it would have been a nice souvenir to make out with. Around 1:00pm my partner in crime Zebak and I started walking around midtown seeking potential spots to hit up. We decided to have some fun with the idea and make it into a scavenger hunt seeking the next "clue location". After all, why not right? We had to have some fun while walking around in the humidity and soon to come torrential rainfall.
Around 1:30pm we headed to the most obvious spot being Bryant Park. With no showings to view, we started looking around for the YSL volunteers. After spotting them, we politely asked if any totes were still available. We received a cold head shake of 'NO'. I jokingly responded "Wow I guess they went quickly, didn't they?".
Once again, a nod of 'YES' with a weak fake ass smile. It wouldn't have hurt
Ms. Blondie to open her mouth with a few words, but I guess pleasantries flew out the window from the get.
As we continued down east of 6 Ave., I thought it couldn't get any better, when we spotted a few non-fashion oriented/homeless people rockin' out with the bag.
How completely ironic that was- that made everything all better. I just had to laugh. I guess the idea of discretion was not used by the marketing division at YSL, or picking volunteers to be courteous either. I think Mr. Laurent would have agreed.
Just as well...
At about 2:30pm we headed down to Church Street. I ended up getting my hair done by my stylist and homegirl extraordinaire, Ruth Roche owner of RARE, NYC. As always she hooked me up with an always fresh hairdo. By this time the wind picked up and the rain came. We spent the remaining part of the day listening to music and drinking endless cups of coffee. It was a good end to an almost not so good day.

YSL x MANIFESTO HITS NYC

Tommorow is day two of the Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in NYC.
More importantly fashion frenzied urbanites will embark on a mission to seek the Yves Saint Laurent tote in either black or white designed by Stefano Pilati, and newspaper style Manifesto featuring Naomi Campbell. As part of YSL's campaign for Fall/Winter 2008-2009 collection, volunteers will be on the streets handing out 5,000of these limited edition bags in NY, London, Tokyo, Paris, Milan, and Hong Kong.
One question still remains on my mind though. With the anticipated hype over this "freebie", I am surprised they did not execute a more creative design. Just a thought. Good luck to you all.

ETRO MEN FOR FALL '08- Part I

Etro is quite possibly one of the most distinguished Italian fashion houses to date. Born in Milan by Gimmeo Etro in 1968, it's still a family run business which produces some of the finest fabrics, home furnishings, and fragrances in the world.
The signature look is always daring, focused on incorporating bold and bright colors, patterns, precision tailoring, and often times featuring the use of paisley. Now we're not saying that you are required to rock your gear like this on the regular, but it's a nice change of pace to be freshly dipped in something other than a t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of kicks.
Featured below are some of our picks for the MENS FALL 2008 collection. You can expect a palette of richly crafted outwear, separates, an suits in warm tones for the season. Visit ETRO for additional looks. In the meantime stay with us and be in the know.

LVMH FILM '08 CAMPAIGN vs. CLUBBED TO DEATH '03
The LVMH Group present their 2008 viral campaign craftfully showcasing a portion of their 60 sub-luxury companies. Based out of Paris, France LVMH also known as Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton, is a prestigious French holding company, housing the largest luxury goods conglomerate initially merged in 1987. The advertisement is conceptualized in a world where perfection & beauty is everlasting and the powerful reign.
Ironically entitled 'Clubbed To Death', the original single was released in 1995 by the Australian genre-blending composer Rob Dougan, and re-released again in 2003 off his "Furious Angels" album. A complete dichotomy portrayed in this trip hop-classique captured in a '40s stylized video, which features the artist as the heroic protagonist.

LORENA DE LA TORRE- A/W 08-'09

So let's be honest, couture fashions are wonderfully bold & theatric, but often times unwearable. Fortunately we found the work of
LORENA DE LA TORRE.
Founded initially in 2005 by Spanish designer Lorena de la Torre, her first couture collection was showcased in Dubai's Park Hyatt in ’06, and in collaboration with Perles of Tahiti, a non-profit economic interest group. Torre’s current A/W '08-'09 is breathlessly constructed with sleek appeal for the perfectly coiffed urbane women. Combined with both masculine & feminine silhouettes, the muted color arrangement is Oooh! la, la! perfect. Rock out during the day with one of these forward minded looks added to your dark denim, sneaks, and accessorized with that favorite oversized bag. For those party nights, pair up with some pumps, leather or satin bottoms, & clutch. We suggest a bold color, sure to make traffic stop instantly. Currenty available in the UK, Spain, & Greece through select retailers.

CHANEL Mobile Art lands in NYC
Don’t look to the skies, but the iconic brand Chanel will temporarily be touching down in Central Park, NY with a traveling art pavilion known as MOBILE ART . At the request of Chanel’s designer Karl Lagerfeld, the futuristic spaceship like structure was created by architect Zaha Hadid of London, and will house the works of 20 international contemporary artists who will exhibit their works inspired by the staple quilt bag that has given Chanel it’s unique identity. The challenge was to make the 7,500-square-foot structure visually compelling, and could also be transported with ease. The material consists of light weight panels that can easily be packed into 51 shippable containers. The traveling project will have free entry to all and will circulate for the next 2 years in Asia, United States, & Europe. An event we're looking forward to! Back after the jump.
