Rawthentix is a street culture and lifestyle driven online blog, providing readers with the latest buzz worthy news related to trends and current events for astute tastemakers and globe trekkers around the world.
Initially founded in 2005 as a Creative PR Agency, Rawthentix was strategized and masterminded by its two founding partners who were fed up with the corporate overindulgence mentality within the music, fashion retail, and media industry. For them the current lack of progression and creativity within the already saturated market has spewed countless numbers of overzealous haters claiming to be down, but systematically know nothing.
With the combined work experience and credibility of over 30 years in the art, music, fashion, & dance community, it was only a logical progression for Rawthentix to spawn. Their knowledge and dedication toward cultivating a voice for street culture is their business, but is also engrained within their personal lifestyle as well.
Our marketing campaigns include collaborative projects with Burton, Red Bull, Upper Playground, Red Bull, Nike SB, and Oakley. Media and entertainment collaboration include Milan Entertainment, MTV/VH1 Networks, 'The Art Dump' (Chocolate installation), Red Bull, Pacha NYC, Bboy Ivan (Urban Action Figure), HEF (Fx Crew), KRS One, Fab 5 Freddy, N.E.R.D, Universal/Interscope Group, Much Music (Chum City), artists Barbara Tucker, Rufio (White Lights), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Smoochy), and of course our loyal F.A.M. and Special Sauce collective.

The book tells the story of a young boy named Max getting into mischief one evening in his home. For punishment, his mother sends him to his room without dinner, where it opens up into a magical land of the Wild Things. We're all about living in the land of imagination these days. Those interested mark your calendar as it is set to open in theatres October 16th, 2009. Come with your Goobers and an open mind!

UNKLE x FULLY FLARED RE-EDIT
Originally used for the end credits of the acclaimed Fully Flared skate video directed by Spike Jonze and Ty Evans, the use of the acoustic driven track "Heaven" by U.N.K.L.E. was used as the inspiration and backdrop to re-edit
a sequence of shots provided by the Lakai Skate team. The end result is pure perfection.
The music video will be released via Itunes and other digital outlets on March 22nd in the UK, and March 24th in North America.

NIKE CORTEZ BROTHERS & FLYMOTION RELEASE
Okay, so we realize that we have been slacking a bit on our posts...
We promise you that we have a perfectly legitimate explanation for it all! With a variety of client projects that we have been consulting on, planning events for the new Special Sauce Flagship store, and our recent mergers and acquisitions with Trashbag Aesthetics, we've been keeping on our toes.
Did we mention that Fashion Week for 2009 is about to be in full effect here in New York?- Yeah, and that too. So please forgive us, as we love dishing you daily hot plates of goodness and receiving feedback from all our readers who share our interests. Now, back to our regulary scheduled program! (Ummm- kind of at least.)
Though a bit late on this news, we couldn't pass on dropping the Cortez Brothers movie short presented by Nike and Berlin based shop Overkill, released a couple of days ago. For the occasion they teamed up with Tokyoplastic who created the two animated characters in the film. The viral video is also a collaboration with the newly released Nike Cortez Brothers Double Pack, which consists of a blue nylon Cortez and a silver metallic Cortez Flymotion.
The two sneaker styles and toys are also representative of Nike's co-founders Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman. The films two little characters Phil & Bill, symbolically represent the fusion between old school style and 21 century technology of the reinvented Nike Cortez hybrid. For more information visit Overkill.

Stephen Colbert On: Shepard Fairey Copyright Battle
As if there weren't a plethora of more important issues to be concerned about regarding our country, economy, and the world... another case of the mighty dollar rears its ugly head. This past week the Associated Press accused L.A. based street artist Shepard Fairey for copyright infringement by using the original AP image for his iconic red-white-and blue portrait capturing Obama. You be the judge- what are your thoughts?

2|16|09 UPDATE- KEITH HARING DOCUMENTARY
Somehow mysteriously the hour long documentary below that we posted last week has been taken down. Could it possibly be a copyright and licensing rights related issue? I wouldn't be surprised, as I personally dealt with these kind of dreaded issues for 8 years when I worked with MTV- Yeah, I admit it..I worked as a drone for the corporate hog and lived to tell the story.
Thankfully we have a little something to replenish you all with. It has come to our attention that there is a new documentary currently being shown entitled
"The Universe of Keith Haring" directed by Christina Clausen, with its theme song by DJ junior Vasquez. (Wow- can you say Tunnel, NYC circa 1990's) unfortunately it is only available in Canada, Europe and Brazil right now.
We'll be sure to keep you posted on this though. Stay tuned.
Courtesy: ovic one
Originally broadcasted on Dutch televison by AVRO, the documentary explores the street art movement in the 1980s, and the massive influence Keith Haring
left on the pop culture movement. Nearly an hour of video, it is in English and subtitled in Dutch. It is produced by Overcom & French Conecction Films & Absolute Film with co-production by Avro.

SHEPARD FAIREY x "HOPE" OBAMA
This past December we brought you the drop on Shepard Fairey's illustration of Obama used on the Time magazine cover, which was a true historical moment in its right for the street art movement. We present you with additional insight on the making of the iconic image that has virally captivated a nation, and now also resides within the Smithsonian Institute. A brief but excellent overview.
Peep the video below and hear what Fairey had to say.

KARL LAGERFELD PRESENTS:
COCO CHANEL x PARIS-MOSCOW
The man behind and in front the house of Chanel never ceases to amaze us...
The blogosphere has been buzzing with the teaser video from Chanel. We decided to hold off until we were able to bring you the full length feature.
Last week Wednesday Karl Lagerfeld had his directorial debut. Used to set the tone for the opening of the Chanel "Paris-Moscow" 2009 pre fall collection, a ten minute silent film featured the life of the legendary Coco Chanel during the period of 1913, and then again in 1923. Held at the Theatre le Ranelagh, the presentation which was initially supposed to occur in Moscow, was then cancelled due Russian customs wanting to have three weeks preferential treatment of the collection.
The black and white short was shot in two days in a Paris studio, and featured a variety of Lagerfeld's personal entourage, which included Lithuanian model Edita Vilkeviciute, playing the role of Coco Chanel in her youth. Other supporting roles were played by muse, Amanda Harlech and daughter Tallulah Ormsby-Gore as customer and model, Brad Kroenig as Coco's lover, the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, and his bodyguard Sebastien Jondeau as a Russian general.
The viral video was inspired by Academy Award-winning Mack Sennett, otherwise known as the innovator of slapstick comedy, and features a spliced montage of authentic newsreel footage WWI. We say, in a time where the economic pinch is being felt by many, creativity is a necessity, and this marketing campaign gets two raised champagne glasses from us. View the world of luxury that is defined by Chanel.

CRYSTAL HEAD VODKA IS FOR REAL

We recently heard the latest buzz about the authenticity of the viral video featuring actor Dan Akroyd promoting his new quadruple-distilled vodka, made with Newfoundland water and triple filtered process. After viewing the 8 minute long video we were hesitant to believe this was actually real. What seems to be one part infomercial and two parts history lesson is actually part of a clever marketing campaign for the new premium spirit called Crystal Head Vodka. Manufactured in Canada, the vodka is featured in a clear glass shaped skull bottle designed by John Alexander, and manufactured by master artisans in Milan's Bruni Glass Company. We know what you’re thinking. Yes, it is pretty unique, isn't it? We wouldn't mind having this ourselves just for the bottle. Thankfully the Infinium Spirits is promoting the Crystal Head Vodka for the U.S. It will be available starting in California, Texas, Nevada, Louisiana and Florida. Retail price is $49.95 for the 750ml bottle. We say, bottom's up.
Peep the official site to watch the oddness.
