Rawthentix is a street culture and lifestyle driven online blog, providing readers with the latest buzz worthy news related to trends and current events for astute tastemakers and globe trekkers around the world.
Initially founded in 2005 as a Creative PR Agency, Rawthentix was strategized and masterminded by its two founding partners who were fed up with the corporate overindulgence mentality within the music, fashion retail, and media industry. For them the current lack of progression and creativity within the already saturated market has spewed countless numbers of overzealous haters claiming to be down, but systematically know nothing.
With the combined work experience and credibility of over 30 years in the art, music, fashion, & dance community, it was only a logical progression for Rawthentix to spawn. Their knowledge and dedication toward cultivating a voice for street culture is their business, but is also engrained within their personal lifestyle as well.
Our marketing campaigns include collaborative projects with Burton, Red Bull, Upper Playground, Red Bull, Nike SB, and Oakley. Media and entertainment collaboration include Milan Entertainment, MTV/VH1 Networks, 'The Art Dump' (Chocolate installation), Red Bull, Pacha NYC, Bboy Ivan (Urban Action Figure), HEF (Fx Crew), KRS One, Fab 5 Freddy, N.E.R.D, Universal/Interscope Group, Much Music (Chum City), artists Barbara Tucker, Rufio (White Lights), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Smoochy), and of course our loyal F.A.M. and Special Sauce collective.
Rawthentix is not only a movement, but a Non-Traditional entertainment and street fashion agency, focusing on marketing initiatives, through an array of promotions that include: Live Event Productions, Brand Development, and Social Networking. We host an eclectic team of forward thinking individuals who live, breathe, & forecast trends In short, we will provide clients with groundbreaking concepts that will maximize brand image and public awareness.
It is our intention to bring readers thoughtful commentary, as well as the latest freshness to drop. If you are seeking a product review, advertisement, client consultation, or looking to connect, we'd love to hear from you. In the meantime frequent our site, leave a comment, and be in the know.

FARPITZ x KAPOW WOW OBJECTS!
"Ms. Farpitz" otherwise known as Sara Zucker swung by and introduced herself to the Rawthentix fam during the opening of the new Special Sauce boutique in Huntington, NY. We didn't have the opportunity to speak with her very long (amplified speakers and a DJ booth don't make for an easy mix), but this fellow tastemaker is one to keep on your radar for sure. Pleasant from the get, her short yet witty blog commentary on street culture and fashion is a must read.
Sara make a BOOM!
Take for instance this little do-it-yourself number she created, based off newcomer brand KA/POW/WOW Objects. Currently available on the always trendy Pixie Market, these neck adornments are indeed one of a kind. Although not outrageous in price, they will run you between $99-$140. Otherwise you can be like Sara, get with the scissors, and cut up some of your old stretchy t-shirts. We say, its time to raid our closets, because the arts and crafts get down is about to begin. Big ups to you Ms. Zucker...keep it crafty.

VINTI ANDREWS x NIKE ID
"The Pit Bulls"
LONDON Pit- Via joes[a]fiend
After graduating from the Central Saint Martin Design School in 2001,
UK street wear designer Vinti Andrews ventured on her own, only to later work with notable brands to date that include Evisu, Sneaker Pimps, NYC, Adidas,
and Sotheby's to name a few. With her recent success, and the highly publicized Windrunner project with Nike, the artists momentum has steadily increased once again, with another collaboration with Nike ID.
This time around Andrews skill was put to the test, by creating a pair of life size patch work pit bulls. The first dog features a variety of different Dunk color ways (currently on display at Nike ID Studio in London), while the other is comprised of colorful Air Max 90s including the Carnival, CMYK, and the King of the Mountain models (available for sale at Loveless in Tokyo, Aoyama). This has got our vote. We say, if this isn't one of the most creative pieces of art through carefully crafted deconstruction, we don't know what is. What are yout thoughts?

SHEPARD FAIREY x TIME MAGAZINE
Feat. "Person of the Year" OBAMA
Multimedia & street artist Shepard Fairey has teamed up with TIME magazine to present their latest cover art, just in time for their PERSON OF THE YEAR issue featuring President Elect Barack Obama. Take note of the long-lost photo shoot during Obama's college years.
In the words of Time: “Our cover portrait is by the street artist Shepard Fairey, whose roots are in the skateboarding world and whose early poster of then Senator Obama became the great populist image of the campaign. With this cover, Fairey has now created a new iconic image of the President-elect — a rich, multi layered poster that echoes but then expands on his original.”
We say, the surprises just keep on coming. For the full read visit here.

PEPSI POP UP SHOP FEAT.
Cubannie, Hellz and more...
We just realized that there are a lot of events and parties to post up this week. 'Tis the season for merriment.
A few weeks back we were ranting about the hits and misses of pop-up shops. Some well worth it, others that were completely off the mark. Thankfully this is one that we can easily give two thumbs up to, because two of our favorite brands will be in full effect this Saturday at the Open House Gallery located on Mullberry St. and sponsored by Pepsi. Starting with the street swag of Cubannie Links and topped off by the always bad Hellz Bellz, guests will be treated to a day of good music & some serious holiday shopping. Thanks to lady at large, Ms. Annie-links for the good word.

HELLZ BELLZ x BORN BAD
HOLIDAY 2008 COLLECTION
Yesterday was another busy day for the RAW team. Along with the opening of the newest Special Sauce boutique, we've been keeping busy working on a variety of projects to drop in the near future and for the '09. Sorry, mum’s the word for now. With much on my mind, I woke up to early to comprehend, let alone my eyes were nearly closed when getting dressed. Of course the weather was dismal and I had to carry around the damn umbrella. I'm not in the habit of carrying anything unnecessary. My prime objective was to hit up all the showroom appointments that I obligated myself to, while all the while keeping track of time. By the time I hit the Foundation I was blazing hot, and my hair was humidity ridden. The weather as of late has been completely out of whack, don't you think? Anyway, I met up with the always pleasant and chill Ms. Julie to view the Hellz Bellz Summer collection. More on that after the jump!
In the meantime I offer you the latest images from the anticipated Holiday collection, entitled "Born Bad". All I can say is bravo! This collection is going to be keeping ladies properly flossed for the winter months. You can rest easy in knowing that Sauce will be serving it up hot and fresh, very shortly.
Here is what the Hellz press release describes the collection's inspiration based upon:
Inspired by the infamous Vaudeville actress, and sexual liberator, Mae West, our Holiday collection represents for the ”Born Bad” femme fatale. With West’s racy quotes which sprang, tough-dame style from the side of her mouth, she’s been firmly stamped as the personification of Hellz through her story of survival, persistence, independence and unshakable self-esteem. In her life which ended in 1980, at the age of 87, she became both an icon and pioneer for both men and women everywhere.
The collection comes full force with our ”Born Bad” style showcasing key items such as the No Frontin’ stadium jacket, Night Stalker doleman top, Grotesk skinny jeans and much more… in all its madness, it’s very Hellz!! Our Holiday 2008 “Born Bad” Collection is available in stores now!!! You can visit our shop list for our online stores and/or to find a store nearest you.

KARL LAGERFELD PRESENTS:
COCO CHANEL x PARIS-MOSCOW
The man behind and in front the house of Chanel never ceases to amaze us...
The blogosphere has been buzzing with the teaser video from Chanel. We decided to hold off until we were able to bring you the full length feature.
Last week Wednesday Karl Lagerfeld had his directorial debut. Used to set the tone for the opening of the Chanel "Paris-Moscow" 2009 pre fall collection, a ten minute silent film featured the life of the legendary Coco Chanel during the period of 1913, and then again in 1923. Held at the Theatre le Ranelagh, the presentation which was initially supposed to occur in Moscow, was then cancelled due Russian customs wanting to have three weeks preferential treatment of the collection.
The black and white short was shot in two days in a Paris studio, and featured a variety of Lagerfeld's personal entourage, which included Lithuanian model Edita Vilkeviciute, playing the role of Coco Chanel in her youth. Other supporting roles were played by muse, Amanda Harlech and daughter Tallulah Ormsby-Gore as customer and model, Brad Kroenig as Coco's lover, the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, and his bodyguard Sebastien Jondeau as a Russian general.
The viral video was inspired by Academy Award-winning Mack Sennett, otherwise known as the innovator of slapstick comedy, and features a spliced montage of authentic newsreel footage WWI. We say, in a time where the economic pinch is being felt by many, creativity is a necessity, and this marketing campaign gets two raised champagne glasses from us. View the world of luxury that is defined by Chanel.

GET NATURAL WITH K Y Y O T E
If you seek one of a kind jewelry that is environmentally friendly, perhaps you'll fancy the limited pieces from K Y Y O T E. Created by artist Amanda Loos in her Los Angeles studio, she focuses on using recycled and rescued materials such as exotic hardwoods, vintage plastics and fabrics to create one of a kind keepsakes.
K Y Y O T E jewelry is carefully produced by hand in small quantities. Each piece is sealed with an all-natural, non-toxic linseed oil that is hand-rubbed with linseed, and dyed with plant and vegetable based dyes. I am loving her latest collection which includes the "Isadora" feather earring and the "Shark" ring. The arrow point would serve quite nicely for a sudden rough and tumble. Don't you think?

EXTRA BUTTER TURNS ONE YEAR
Aside from the fact that last week was a blurr due to Black Friday, it was also the opening of the new Special Sauce boutique. Thankfully we had something solid to look forward to afterward, by celebrating with our Extra Butter fam on their One Year Anniversary. After a few cups of coffee we headed to Butter to be greeted by a crowd that spilled outside the steamy storefront. Phew, it was hot! DJ Doug Grayson of Allido Records kept the music correct, while drinks, food, and conversation flowed drama free. The night was topped off with clever faux popcorn gift boxes filled with goodies provided for guests. Congratulations to the entire Butter massive! To view the entire nights festivities head over to the Extra Butter blog.
In the meantime, here are a few choice snapshots.

LADIES FIRST WITH BURTON
The image of the Burton has extended its slope down to the streets. Known for being a premium snowboard and street wear, they have put forth great effort in bringing brand visibility to now include fashion trend-sters. Judging by their recent collaborative projects that include the Nylon x Burton mixer and gift giveaway, they are well on their way toward gaining a whole new fan base not necessarily snowboard bound. We say, fresh gear, free booze, and freebies for the ladies? Something tells us your going to be hitting this one up again. See you after the drop.

MAMA WINTER COLLECTION '08
"Mi Vida Loca"
Woman at large and designer extraordinaire, Gabriella Davi-Khorasanee has officially set the stage by keeping ladies fully flossed in the newly dropped line entitled "Mi Vida Loca" by MaMa clothing. This winters 2008 release takes a return back to the original MaMa roots, by focusing on West Coast chola style infused with a contemporized 1940's "Zoot Suit" style mixed with low rider culture. This season the line has grown to include a well thought out and executed variety of t-shirts, fleece tops, flannel shirts, jackets, overalls, cashmere sweaters, outerwear, and jewelry. We say this MaMa collection is something to praise and what other ladies street wear brands should strive for. There's nothing sexier than strong and empowered women. Much respect. To view the complete lookbook and read about the lovely locas behind the scenes visit the MAMA site.
