Rawthentix is a street culture and lifestyle driven online blog, providing readers with the latest buzz worthy news related to trends and current events for astute tastemakers and globe trekkers around the world.
Initially founded in 2005 as a Creative PR Agency, Rawthentix was strategized and masterminded
by its two founding partners who were fed up with the corporate overindulgence mentality within the music, fashion retail, and media industry. For them the current lack of progression and creativity within the already saturated market has spewed countless numbers of overzealous haters claiming to be down, but systematically know nothing.
With the combined work experience and credibility
of over 30 years in the art, music, fashion, & dance community, it was only a logical progression for Rawthentix to spawn. Their knowledge and dedication toward cultivating a voice for street culture is their business, but is also engrained within their personal lifestyle as well.
Our marketing campaigns include collaborative projects with Burton, Red Bull, Upper Playground, Red Bull, Nike SB, and Oakley. Media and entertainment collaboration include Milan Entertainment, MTV/VH1 Networks, 'The Art Dump' (Chocolate installation), Red Bull, Pacha NYC, Bboy Ivan (Urban Action Figure), HEF (Fx Crew), KRS One, Fab 5 Freddy, N.E.R.D, Universal/Interscope Group, Much Music (Chum City), artists Barbara Tucker, Rufio (White Lights), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Smoochy), and of course our loyal F.A.M. and Special Sauce collective.
Rawthentix is not only a movement, but a
Non-Traditional entertainment and street fashion agency, focusing on marketing initiatives, through an array of promotions that include: Live Event Productions, Brand Development, and Social Networking. We host an eclectic team of forward thinking individuals who live, breathe, & forecast trends
In short, we will provide clients with groundbreaking concepts that will maximize brand image and public awareness.
It is our intention to bring readers thoughtful commentary, as well as the latest freshness to drop.
If you are seeking a product review, advertisement, client consultation, or looking to connect, we'd love to hear from you. In the meantime frequent our site, leave a comment, and be in the know.
RESPECT,
Zebak & Lady Loch Ness

We'll be taking a temporary break to do some much needed maintenance and upkeep. Alot of good things have happened for us within the last year, and its high time that we are able to share this with you. So we'll be doing a little nip here...a tuck there...
But stay tuned as we will be back in full swing with the latest news as well as a fully interactive lauched website! (Hopefully sooner rather than later). So please check back with us frequently. We won't be totally ghost, as we will pop in periodically to post up any newsworthy goodness that can't just can't go unmentioned.
We are known periodically for posting up somewhat random drivel. This is a perfect example of one of these times. Maybe we'll just start by reporting "WTF is this" daily gems. Now you can proudly dust off and pair up that Ushanka (Russian fur cap) with this fabulous new find. We say, "What big feet you have!"
Being avid lovers of the artist Usugrow, we were pleasantly surprised to receive the latest news from the good folks over at Upper Playground about their new partnership with the artist. The new line entitled "Shinganist" derives from the Japanese word "Shingan" (meaning mind's eye), and will be his first clothing line to launch in the U.S. on August 1st.
Shinganist will pull inspiration from underground Japanese lifestyle, as well showcase the works of guest artists and Usugrow himself. Upper Playground and Usugrow view the line as a vehicle to introduce a new generation of Japanese artists to the world.
Usugrow started drawing in 1993 for various hardcore metal bands, hip-hop groups, album covers, merchandise, clothing brands, shops, skate companies, whatever. Currently based in Tokyo, Japan his black and white illustrations are one of a kind, combining calligraphy with his drawings. He is inspired by flowers, Buddha statues, album covers, skateboard designs, and music flyers.
Be on the look out- more news and images after the drop date. In the meantime visit the Usugrow site for more details.
If there is one thing that we stand behind, it is the belief that true hip hop, street art and the always changing lifestyle subculture community is in a serious need of diversification on a worldwide scale. Fortunately for us, our man Semor shares this same philosophy. He will be paying it forward with an event this coming June 27th. We have teamed up with him along with our other familia Dedicated in helping to spread the universal word of unity and 'Hip Hope', with a one day jam that will be held at the local youth culture center in the district of Altenkirchen, Germany. If you happen to live or will be visiting be sure to show your love and support. For more information feel free to hit us or Semor up.
In the meantime here are a few details:
12:00PM- (WRITING): Workshop will start off by featuring the TAD Crew and two special writers- Hombre & Pesk. Other artists will include: Jemo, Emok, Leks, Ahorn, Bruz, Virs & Semor.
8:00PM- (FEATURE DJ'S) Diomanges, Westwood Connection, Notah and Cuba 64 will be keeping things in the mix. Music acts LIVE & Direct brought to you by: Huss & Hodn along with Sylabil Spill and O-Flow.
Ummm...what can we say, except the fact that we are late on posting this up. We've been meaning to do this except we were held captive for the last month planning the Special Sauce Huntington Village opening party that dropped last Thursday. What a success. More on that separately. In the meantime we just want to give some serious 'snaps' to the Hellz posse for their support with the Queenz Arrive event and for shouting out your's truly. Thanks for being such great purveyor's of style and rogue class.
More goodness to manifest shortly...In the meantime be sure to visit "What The Hellz" for the full read and to be in the know.
The house of Chanel ceases to amaze us with their inventive ways in order to stay original. They have just released their latest viral promoting their iconic No. 5 fragrance. The short film tells the story of love at first sight. You'll have to watch in order to fully appreciate. The lead is non other than French actress Audrey Tatou, who will be the latest to play the role of the late Coco Chanel in an upcoming film biography.
For those who live by the heel of Vans, you'll be happy to know that they will be dropping a hardcover collectible book on June 1st. Recognized as a brand staple within skate and street lifestyle culture, they have documented the history of the company now spanning over 40 years, sharing their story of soles from the ground up. Those interested can get their pre-order on now via the Vans website now.

Fresh and direct from our email inbox to your screen, we recieved the latest releases being served up by the good folks over at Osneaker. It's hard to believe that it has been 20 years since the inception of the Air Max 90 initially spearheaded by the designer Tinker Hatfield. In usual fashion, Nike will be celebrating this momentous occassion, with a few special Air Max designs only available to friends, family & Nike employee's.
Following up to the very recent and limited release of the "Croc" Air Max 90 in the distinct Curry colorway, is the newest design to drop in a neutral White/Mean green-Anthracite. If you do happen to cop a pair for yourself you mine as well wear plastic bags on your feet, or otherwise have the ability to levitate. Only 25 pairs are known to have been made.
The bad news is that they are not a general release to the public. The good news is you can take your chances and get your trigger finger ready to press buy on Osneaker. Be sure to act quickly as there is limited supply.

This past Friday, April 10th we had the priviledge to team up with the talented artist Indie 184 and her first solo all-female street art and graffiti exhibition ""QUEENZ ARRIVE". All we can say was if you weren't their, you truly missed out on a a spectacular night. Along with Special Sauce, Rawthentix was on PR overdrive, and on hand stuffing gift bags provided by some amazing brand sponsors that included: Hellz Bellz, 123 Klan, Queenz Destroy, Metroplastique, Powerhouse Books and so many more to count.
The intimate setting at the McCaig Welles Gallery in Williamsburg packed out within the first hour, as guests had a chance to view the works from some amazing women like the original bad ass (in our opinion) herself Martha Cooper, Fafi, Claw$, Klor, Nina and Indie herself just to name a few. Our resident snapshot heavyweight Elixabet (that's "Red Sonja to us"- sorry girl you have been blessed with your aka) took charge in full paparazzi mode, documenting the evening with legends Henry Chalfant (Style Wars) and Charlie Ahearn (Wild Style). What a treat! We also had the chance to catch up with the always creative L'Amour Supreme and Steve (SB Wear Brand).
At nine o'clock the night was capped off with a his and hers surprise giveaway raffle from Special Sauce. Let's just say those who slept on taking their ticket were crying after. Visit the Sauce blog for details and pics. In all, the event was a success. We can't wait to see what Indie has up her sleeve next. Much respect to all fam that came through for the festivities. Peep a few shots below courtesy of Elixabet.

The rumors of a live-action movie adaption by none other than Spike Jonze for "Where The Wild Things Are" is all true. Originally written by Brooklyn native Maurice Sendak, the picture book was published in 1963 and is regarded today as an American classic in children's literature.
The book tells the story of a young boy named Max getting into mischief one evening in his home. For punishment, his mother sends him to his room without dinner, where it opens up into a magical land of the Wild Things. We're all about living in the land of imagination these days. Those interested mark your calendar as it is set to open in theatres October 16th, 2009. Come with your Goobers and an open mind!
Many of our R.A.W. readers know the fondness we have for Germany. Aside from having some of the illest beats and Bboys, this is just another good reason to add to our ever growing list. For those of us that are domestically bound, we can only hope that this user friendly application will catch on to be a worldwide movement...or at least in New York (hint, hint)
Adidas celebrated the launch of the highly anticipated Urban Art Guide this past March 20th, by hosting a media bash held at Hotel in Berlin, a night club set to officially open its doors this summer 2009. Based out of Berlin, the new mobile art guide is a free download via Itunes for iPhone users. For those that enjoy getting visually stimulated while keeping stride in the urban jungle, art connoisseurs can now have the best of both worlds with a hands on guide using the new application to visit various pieces of art through out the city streets. From known museums and galleries to hidden nooks and corridors, this new guide covers it all.
To learn more and get your FREE Adidas Urban Art Guide visit the iTunes Store. Otherwise take a virtual tour with the short video tutorial below.
MEDIA INFORMATION: Adidas Urban Art Guide
The city is a gallery. The adidas Urban Art Guide is the catalog. When Urban Art entered the scene, art left the galleries. Their characters populate the whole urban landscape. Especially in a young and international city like Berlin they follows us at every turn like a second population. But who captures them, organizes and comments this highly dynamic art which constantly re-invents and erases itself? The adidas Urban Art Guide provides for the art on the street what a catalog provides for art in the galleries - a reliable guide which opens eyes, sharpens the understanding and intensifies the fun in Urban Art.
The Urban Art Guide editorial staff is based in Berlin. The city simply forces us to develop excitement for paintings on walls. And curiosity: Who are these artists, how are they linked, what kind of styles develop? Being that curious the idea of the Urban Art Guide came up. A project is needed that specifically answers questions - right on the spot. The adidas Urban Art Guide sends an article for each artwork that you are standing in front of directly to your iPhone. The article gives information on the artist, the artwork and references.
In close cooperation with Urban Artists but also with classical art historians not only a catalog is created but also an extensive and permanently updated Urban Art archive. The fast-paced and short-lived Urban Art is met with the consistency of the Urban Art Guide articles. Long after artworks have perished from walls, are weathered or wantonly erased, they are still documented on the Urban Art Guide website. The guide doesn't only show the present condition of Urban Art, it also records its history.
The adidas Urban Art Guide counts on interaction in order to meet the fast-paced changes of Urban Art. You have seen a new artwork? Take a picture and send it to the Urban Art Guide. The editorial staff checks it. Because the adidas Urban Art Guide doesn't only react quickly and flexibly, it also counts on maximum reliability - and all-time ready to go.
Thanks to the talented Annie (Cubannie Links) for the drop on this...

Continuing on the tradition of street art through guerilla tactics, the always provocative INSA drops his latest works rooftop side in London with his staple legs and heels trademark.
Our philosophy is based on the idea that creative progress reinforced by network building is the key to success. The warm weather is starting to pop off, and we're taking full advantage. We kept things sweet this past Wednesday with the RARE Remix event. We teamed up with the multi-talented celebrity stylist Ruth Roche, and her RARE STUDIO team in Tribeca, to celebrate the anticipated launch of their Pureology Color Bar.
Supported by Rawthentix own rare groove selector DJ Nick Pepe and a crowd of media and select tastemakers the night was a success. Tasty bites and sparkling spirits were provided by Macao, with additional gift bag sponsorship by: Yours Truly Brand, Redken, Nancy Elle Wellness, Tribeca Beauty Spa, and Lucky (feat. the April cover with Jessica Szohr styled by Ruth).

The anticipated release of the Hellz x Stussy limited edition capsule rightfully entitled "Ladies First", officially dropped this past Saturday. After hearing and seeing this a few months back, we knew that this would be one to watch. The collection consists of three distinct t-shirt designs (one with rude boy inspired suspenders), a short sleeve hoodie, jacket with the words "Ladies First" across the back, with matching cropped pants and a tote bag. Best of all the prices are amazing, ranging from about $24-$60. You can't beat that!
We deliberately didn't post up anything knowing that legit images wouldn't become available until the final days. After all, we don't want to tease and keep you hungry when we can just give you the whole steak! In celebrating this momentous occasion Hellz x Stussy will be hosting a blow out affair this coming Tuesday, March 10th from 9pm to 2am at the Ecco Ultra Lounge in LA. We won't be their, but you might. Our loss is your gain. Dance the night away and show your support.
