Rawthentix is a street culture and lifestyle driven online blog, providing readers with the latest buzz worthy news related to trends and current events for astute tastemakers and globe trekkers around the world.
Initially founded in 2005 as a Creative PR Agency, Rawthentix was strategized and masterminded
by its two founding partners who were fed up with the corporate overindulgence mentality within the music, fashion retail, and media industry. For them the current lack of progression and creativity within the already saturated market has spewed countless numbers of overzealous haters claiming to be down, but systematically know nothing.
With the combined work experience and credibility
of over 30 years in the art, music, fashion, & dance community, it was only a logical progression for Rawthentix to spawn. Their knowledge and dedication toward cultivating a voice for street culture is their business, but is also engrained within their personal lifestyle as well.
Our marketing campaigns include collaborative projects with Burton, Red Bull, Upper Playground, Red Bull, Nike SB, and Oakley. Media and entertainment collaboration include Milan Entertainment, MTV/VH1 Networks, 'The Art Dump' (Chocolate installation), Red Bull, Pacha NYC, Bboy Ivan (Urban Action Figure), HEF (Fx Crew), KRS One, Fab 5 Freddy, N.E.R.D, Universal/Interscope Group, Much Music (Chum City), artists Barbara Tucker, Rufio (White Lights), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Smoochy), and of course our loyal F.A.M. and Special Sauce collective.
Rawthentix is not only a movement, but a
Non-Traditional entertainment and street fashion agency, focusing on marketing initiatives, through an array of promotions that include: Live Event Productions, Brand Development, and Social Networking. We host an eclectic team of forward thinking individuals who live, breathe, & forecast trends
In short, we will provide clients with groundbreaking concepts that will maximize brand image and public awareness.
It is our intention to bring readers thoughtful commentary, as well as the latest freshness to drop.
If you are seeking a product review, advertisement, client consultation, or looking to connect, we'd love to hear from you. In the meantime frequent our site, leave a comment, and be in the know.

Being avid lovers of the artist Usugrow, we were pleasantly surprised to receive the latest news from the good folks over at Upper Playground about their new partnership with the artist. The new line entitled "Shinganist" derives from the Japanese word "Shingan" (meaning mind's eye), and will be his first clothing line to launch in the U.S. on August 1st.
Shinganist will pull inspiration from underground Japanese lifestyle, as well showcase the works of guest artists and Usugrow himself. Upper Playground and Usugrow view the line as a vehicle to introduce a new generation of Japanese artists to the world.
Usugrow started drawing in 1993 for various hardcore metal bands, hip-hop groups, album covers, merchandise, clothing brands, shops, skate companies, whatever. Currently based in Tokyo, Japan his black and white illustrations are one of a kind, combining calligraphy with his drawings. He is inspired by flowers, Buddha statues, album covers, skateboard designs, and music flyers.
Be on the look out- more news and images after the drop date. In the meantime visit the Usugrow site for more details.
If there is one thing that we stand behind, it is the belief that true hip hop, street art and the always changing lifestyle subculture community is in a serious need of diversification on a worldwide scale. Fortunately for us, our man Semor shares this same philosophy. He will be paying it forward with an event this coming June 27th. We have teamed up with him along with our other familia Dedicated in helping to spread the universal word of unity and 'Hip Hope', with a one day jam that will be held at the local youth culture center in the district of Altenkirchen, Germany. If you happen to live or will be visiting be sure to show your love and support. For more information feel free to hit us or Semor up.
In the meantime here are a few details:
12:00PM- (WRITING): Workshop will start off by featuring the TAD Crew and two special writers- Hombre & Pesk. Other artists will include: Jemo, Emok, Leks, Ahorn, Bruz, Virs & Semor.
8:00PM- (FEATURE DJ'S) Diomanges, Westwood Connection, Notah and Cuba 64 will be keeping things in the mix. Music acts LIVE & Direct brought to you by: Huss & Hodn along with Sylabil Spill and O-Flow.

On Saturday, April 25th we hosted the "Urban Vibes" show along with our co-partners Special Sauce with the artist Semor. Thank you to everyone who showed love and made it out! The house was packed and the crowd was live, with sounds provided by our resident DJ Nick Pepe. A special thanks to all our fam who kept things moving- you know who you are!
For those that woke up late- the exhibit will be open to the public and running until May 16th. By request, those interested will be able to purchase the artwork showcased from the exhibition. In the meantime peep the slide below to view some of the work featured.

Many of our R.A.W. readers know the fondness we have for Germany. Aside from having some of the illest beats and Bboys, this is just another good reason to add to our ever growing list. For those of us that are domestically bound, we can only hope that this user friendly application will catch on to be a worldwide movement...or at least in New York (hint, hint)
Adidas celebrated the launch of the highly anticipated Urban Art Guide this past March 20th, by hosting a media bash held at Hotel in Berlin, a night club set to officially open its doors this summer 2009. Based out of Berlin, the new mobile art guide is a free download via Itunes for iPhone users. For those that enjoy getting visually stimulated while keeping stride in the urban jungle, art connoisseurs can now have the best of both worlds with a hands on guide using the new application to visit various pieces of art through out the city streets. From known museums and galleries to hidden nooks and corridors, this new guide covers it all.
To learn more and get your FREE Adidas Urban Art Guide visit the iTunes Store. Otherwise take a virtual tour with the short video tutorial below.
MEDIA INFORMATION: Adidas Urban Art Guide
The city is a gallery. The adidas Urban Art Guide is the catalog. When Urban Art entered the scene, art left the galleries. Their characters populate the whole urban landscape. Especially in a young and international city like Berlin they follows us at every turn like a second population. But who captures them, organizes and comments this highly dynamic art which constantly re-invents and erases itself? The adidas Urban Art Guide provides for the art on the street what a catalog provides for art in the galleries - a reliable guide which opens eyes, sharpens the understanding and intensifies the fun in Urban Art.
The Urban Art Guide editorial staff is based in Berlin. The city simply forces us to develop excitement for paintings on walls. And curiosity: Who are these artists, how are they linked, what kind of styles develop? Being that curious the idea of the Urban Art Guide came up. A project is needed that specifically answers questions - right on the spot. The adidas Urban Art Guide sends an article for each artwork that you are standing in front of directly to your iPhone. The article gives information on the artist, the artwork and references.
In close cooperation with Urban Artists but also with classical art historians not only a catalog is created but also an extensive and permanently updated Urban Art archive. The fast-paced and short-lived Urban Art is met with the consistency of the Urban Art Guide articles. Long after artworks have perished from walls, are weathered or wantonly erased, they are still documented on the Urban Art Guide website. The guide doesn't only show the present condition of Urban Art, it also records its history.
The adidas Urban Art Guide counts on interaction in order to meet the fast-paced changes of Urban Art. You have seen a new artwork? Take a picture and send it to the Urban Art Guide. The editorial staff checks it. Because the adidas Urban Art Guide doesn't only react quickly and flexibly, it also counts on maximum reliability - and all-time ready to go.
With the already released Nike "Teen Wolf" Dunks (part of the Media Pack), we decided to pair this write up along with the soon to drop KIKS TYO t-shirt of the same nature.
Limited to only 72 pairs worldwide, the premium lows have caused a stir among sneaker afficionados. While easily becoming a statement piece (for the better or worse- you decide), they are exclusively available at Osneaker. Now if the sneakers weren't enough for you, and you're compelled to blatantly rock them accordingly, Japanese power house KIKS TYO has just revealed their latest t-shirt creation to match those Dunks.
Those hungry to fill their appetite, can pre-order them now until up March 8th on their online shop. They will become available and ship out starting in April. We have to admit that this is one of the best tee's to come out in a while. With an all over print paying homage to the '85 film, we think Scott Howard would be proud.
We had to take a triple take on this one. A definate mind boggling...what the? moment. Be sure to peep the video- pure genius.
German master street paint artist Edgar Müller known for his 3D illusion work participated in the "Festival of World Culture" installment last year, located in In Dun Laoghaire from August 21- 24. His latest installment included the transformation of the East Pier into a life size ice age scene. This project was supported by the Goethe Institution Germany.
Its always a treat when we here at Rawthentix have the chance to introduce designers that are a little off the beaten path. You may not be familiar with the c. neeon brand (we were happily introduced to it 3 years back on a vacation and shopping stint in Berlin), but keep your eyes peeled for this up and coming Berlin based line.
The designers Clara Kraetsch and Doreen Schulz met while attending the Kunsthochschule Berlin College in 2001, where in 2004 they would produce their first collection entitled 'Daydream Collection". Designing for both womens and menswear, the art based label is known for its use of bold color, geometric prints and unusual cuts. Since its introduction, c. neoon has managed to build quite the cult following among the European and Asian markets, by producing notable collaborative projects with UK based Topshop, Nylon, and selling collage artwork with the Lumus art collectors.
The C. Neeon S/S 2009 collection deliciously entitled "Sunday Taste" is striking, seemingly with much more emphasis on ladies garments. Though bold in color choice, the pieces are no fuss, easily light and wearable, with a hint of playfulness. Perfect for that sunlit breezy day. To view the current collection and store list visit c. neeon. In the meantime peep a few of the images below. Stay tuned as we will drop the c. neeon A/W 2009 collection in a hot minute- or two.

The following “FEATHER” and "NAKED" tee are the third and fourth Yuko Tee installment for KIKS TYO’s Spring/Summer 2009 season. The limited release tshirts are currently available for PRE-ORDER until February 1, 2009 or while supplies last for ¥6,090 (that's aproximately $70 US). Visit the Kiks Tyo online shop for additional details and to purchase. Go on, you know you want one!
Oh Crikey!...This is definately one of those times we wish we were abroad. In fact, spendin half the year in Europe would give us the perfect excuse to be closer to some of our fam network. After graduating from the Central Saint Martin Design School in 2001, UK street wear designer Vinti Andrews ventured on her own, only to later work with notable brands to date that include Evisu, Sneaker Pimps, NYC, Adidas, and Sotheby's to name a few. With her recent success, and the highly publicized Windrunner project with Nike, the artists momentum has steadily increased once again, with another collaboration with Nike ID.
This time around Andrews skill was put to the test, by creating a pair of life size patch work pit bulls. The first dog features a variety of different Dunk color ways (currently on display at Nike ID Studio in London), while the other is comprised of colorful Air Max 90s including the Carnival, CMYK, and the King of the Mountain models (available for sale at Loveless in Tokyo, Aoyama). This has got our vote. We say, if this isn't one of the most creative pieces of art through carefully crafted deconstruction, we don't know what is. What are yout thoughts?
We got the good word paid forward from the always Dedicated BabakOne...
It's always something special when you have the opportunity to bring awareness when you come across hidden gems like this. Based out of Denmark comes the artist known as Bill Bach. His latest creation includes original illustrations of his urban odyssey inspired comic book, entitled Rap Vol.1.
If you can believe it- its FREE. You'll just have pick yours up at Alis or Fresh Connection in Copenhagen. Sorry folks, we never said that quality was easy to come by. In the meantime peep his artistry on Flickr.
If you enjoy color-filled kicks on your feet as much as we do, why not step it up a notch by getting them properly dipped in some laces. Sure you could stick to generic black and white, but...why would you do that when you can pick from a variety of colors, lengths, and materials like these! Offered to you by Schnuersenkel, straight out of Switzerland. Although the site is in German, take a minute and visit, as it is very easy to navigate. Now get to flossin'!
German graffiti artists Hera (Jasmin) and Akut (Falk), otherwise known as the collective Herakut initally met in 2004 when they were both invited to both paint at the Urban Festival in Seville, Spain. This video is a worthy introduction into their style and technique. Peep the niceness.
So a few weeks back we had a chance to catch up with BabakOne, owner of Dedicated. He let us know about the different projects he's been working on, including his collaboration with the crew over at The Good Will Out. TGWO is a new sneaker and life style shop that opened its doors this past March, and is located in the beautiful city Köln. Did we mention how much we love Köln? We do. We corresponded with its owner Alex, where their passion for sneaker culture transcended into their new venture. We say congratulations, and we'll be stopping through on our next trip over for sure. Make sure you show some love and peep TGWO site for the latest drops.
So my home girl at large and B.F.F. Sista K, graphic artist and designer of MAMIKA, recently entered the Zac Posen "My Style" competition, sponsored by Coke Light, DE. The winner with the most votes will be flown to NYC, and will work with the man himself in his workshop on an exclusive one of a kind dress. Make sure you vote 5 Stars for the Mamika "My Style is Mamalicious" profile. It's hard enough having a female as a friend (let's keep it real), but it's even harder when they don't even live close to you, let alone in the same country. I haven't seen my girl in 2 years. ;( So help some sista's out. Do your duty and vote to reunite us back together :)
